Pittsburgh Comicon 2012

Check it out. Pittsburgh Comicon 2012 has only been over for a day and I’m already posting pictures from it. That’s easily a new record for me. Like by far.

Had a good show. Lots of people in costume, but I ended up forgetting to bring my good camera all three days and so I took pics with my cellphone. That works great for up close shots of people by my booth, but I was a little less than impressed with the quality that I got for people in the costume contest. I’ll have to remember to bring the good camera next time. Oh well.

Max and I had a lot of fun. And we’d definitely like to thank the Hellcat models that came out, so thank you to Delilah, Bella, Chaste and Riley. We couldn’t have done it without you. Also a special thanks to our other helpers, Draven and Ted Kass and Max Kass (sons of the creators of “Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock,” Karen Bryla and Internet Pioneer Sam Kass) who helped out with passing out flyers, grabbing attention of passers by and drawing of the winning ticket in our signed poster raffle.

There are more shows to come (they’ll be announced here) and we hope to see you all again next year.

Poison Ivy by Mav

So after I had the Harley Quinn print up that I posted yesterday, someone at the con said that I should do a Poison Ivy. I don’t think I’ve ever drawn her before, so I figured, sure. Why not? So here’s Poison Ivy, drawn today at Pittsburgh Comicon. What do you think?

I think I need to start making sketch cards to sell at cons they seem to be all the rage lately.

Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn by Mav

I was thinking to myself  “Self, you know what I should post more of on the Hellcats blog? I should post more random sketches.” I was doing that for a while, but then sort of got away from it. Of course, i don’t know if anyone is really reading the blog, or if you are, do you want to see non-Hellcat related stuff here?

Well, on the off chance that you do. Here’s a digital sketch I did of Harley Quinn at my booth today at Pittsburgh Comicon. Really, Wacom should make me an official spokesman for the Cintiq Tablet. people like asking me about it more than they like talking to me about my book.

Oh, and if any of the people who were talking to me about it today want to buy it, the tablet I was using was the Wacom Cintiq 12WX. At home, I also have the much larger Cintiq 24HD. And the software I was using was Manga Studio EX, and of course Adobe Photoshop CS5. And for those of you who want a cheaper alternative to Manga Studio EX, you can also get Manga Studio Debut.

Anyway, since, unlike Max, I almost never draw on paper anymore, I’ve taken to bringing the smaller Cintiq Tablet to cons with me. I also bring a computer monitor, which I face outward towards the crowd and mirror the Cintiq screen. This allows people to watch me while I draw and get an idea of my process. It seems to be a big hit. Hey Wacom, you listening? Trust me, I make a great spokesman. Send me to San Diego. I even come with my own booth babes!

Anyway, let me know what you think of the drawing and if I should start tossing up more sketches up here. (and if you’re in the Pittsburgh Area, there’s still one more day for you to come down and see us at Comicon. Please do!)

Katt & Dawg #1: The Beagle Protocols

Katt & Dawg #1: The Beagle Protocols

Hi everyone. I hope you’re enjoying the new forma of the new comic. There’s another surprise coming Thursday, so be sure to check back.

So if you were paying attention a few days ago, I announced that as always Max and I (and several of the real life Hellcats) will be appearing at Pittsburgh Comicon 2012 this weekend. So if you’re anywhere near the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, be sure to come on down and meet us and meet the girls.

Because, and here’s the exciting news, we’ll be premiering not one, not two, but THREE new books this weekend, as well as selling posters of the girls. And of course we (and the girls) will be signing everything we sale. And if you can’t make it down, then by all means you can still order them.

So what do we have? Well, of course to start there’s the yearly collection of books. Da Kitty Code is the story that just finished. 52 pages of Hellcat action plus bonus pinups of two of our newest Hellcats, Delilah and Bella (both of whom will be appearing with us at this weekend’s con). It’s available for only $5.99 from Indyplanet.

Next we have Cosmic Hellcats Anthology #2. This collects Da Kitty Code as well as last year’s story, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Doomsday, as well as the “Raining Katt & Dawg” mini-comic we ran a few months ago, and several Hellcat Cosmoses. To top it off, we have bonus features of the Hellcat’s sketchbook and pinups of several of the Hellcat models. If you’re a Cosmic Hellcats fan, and you picked up last year’s Cosmic Hellcats Anthology #1 (still available), then at 144 pages, this is the perfect companion volume. $24.99 from Indyplanet.

And finally, something very special to me. A year in the making, we have Katt and Dawg #1. If you enjoyed seeing them in the comic this year, then you’re going to want to check this out. Written and drawn by me, this is a Sin City style, Mature Readers Only (that means theres naughty words, sex, nudity and violence… lots and lots of violence) print only adventure starring Katt and Dawg off on their own back on Kaneon-3. This is 24 page of 100% NSFW material (plus bonus pinups), and so it won’t ever being appearing on the site here, but we’re hoping to do more Hellcat spinoffs in the future. So if you want to see more of these, then please pick this one up. I really want to know what people think. $4.99 from Indyplanet.

And of course, all three of these books (plus all of our old ones) are listed on the Hellcat Bookstore page so that you know where you can find them.

Hope to see some of you this weekend and make sure you come back on Thursday for something all new and different.
