And now for something a little different...

KDcover-photo.jpgYou might have noticed that today's comic isn't so much a comic as it is a cover. You might also have noticed that it's drawn by me and not Max and not in our usual Hellcat style. There's a good reason for that. Max has been a little overworked trying to keep up with the current storyline, as well as his day job and his band, Shutterdown (which if you haven't heard them, you should check them out). Anyway, he needed a little bit of a break and asked me if I could find a way to give him one.

In the meantime, I'd been working on a solo comic project for a while. You might remember I mentioned it late last year in an announcement. I called it Katt and Dawg. The idea was that in much the same as Cosmic Hellcats is a spoof of sci-fi, anime and manga, it'd be neat to do something in the same universe that was a spoof of grim and gritty adult titles like Sin City. What if there was a former Hellcat, who became disillusioned with the Squadron and left? What if she became an expatriate, and lived in a dark crime ridden world where killing, promiscuity and uncensored four letter words were a way of life. And since she's a catgirl, what if that world was filled with the one thing that could make her even more of an outside. Dogs!

I've been working on it on and off since then, having done the pencilling on 24 hour comics day, and inking and painting it in my free time (what little there is of it) since then. I'm STILL not done, but hopefully someday soon I will be and it will be available for purchase from the Hellcat bookstore along with our other print comics (which you should certainly buy if you enjoy the site and want to support us).

In the meantime, I'm sure you've noticed that Katt and Dawg have shown up in the current storyline, joining Chaste, the Professor, Minerva and Horace on their attempt to open the Ark of Felinia.

But who are Katt and Dawg? How did a former Hellcat cadet end up on the crime ridden streets of Kaneon-3, partnered with a hard-boiled canine private eye with a penchant for pugilism (I've been taking hyperbole lessons from Stan Lee)? Well, that's what I'm going to be explaining over the next three weeks in a short mini-arch called "Raining Katt and Dawg."

The concept had to be modified a little bit to fit within Max and my self-imposed guidelines for the website. No nudity, no swear words. But I wanted to keep the tone and style as close to what I had always envisioned as possible. So for the next three weeks, please bear with me while we explore the decidedly PG-13 world of Katt and Dawg (and of course, please comment, since this is the first extended solo work I'm doing, I'm really looking forward to hearing what people think).

Oh, one last thing, much like the Hellcats (and the Starfoxes), Katt Tuesday is modeled after a realife model. So as a special bonus, I thought I'd throw a picture of her up here. Admit it, that's the only reason you're even looking at this blog entry, isn't it?

Meet the new Hellcats

Bella Poster.jpgYesterday's comic introduced three new Cosmic Hellcats, Sven, Vixen and Bella. Like the original Hellcats (and the Starfoxes) Vixen and Bella are designed based on real life models that I've worked with as a photographer. Both girls are scheduled to appear with Max and myself (and other Hellcat models) at Pittsburgh comicon this coming weekend. So come on down if you can make it. And if you can't, well, here's a look at what you'll be missing.

You might notice that the girls are wearing slightly different uniforms in their photos than they (and Damsel) are wearing in the current story arc. Well, keep reading because all will be explained soon.

In any case, I certainly hope to see as many people there as possible. We'll be selling the new book and signing that and merchandise and the girls will be posing for photos.

Keep an eye on this space for more new features to come.

We've been missing your comments

pool-5.jpgLook there's Sarah being all sexy. That got your attention, didn't it? More on that later.

I want to offer a quick apology to our readers. We've been missing a lot of your comments. I just went through the past month of comments in our spam folder (that's several thousand comments) and found several legitimate comments in there that Max and I had just missed before and never approved to be published. We love hearing from people who read the comic (and the blog) so we feel really bad about that.

All the comments I found that were legit have now been published and the spam deleted but I'm afraid there could have easily been others that we missed. For that I am truly very sorry.

I don't want that to happen anymore. So here's what I've done. I've turned OFF anonymous comments. Where previously, you could comment without an account here, so long as you left your email address and waited for Max or I to approve your comment, now you have to register for the site and/or use a Facebook account to comment (hopefully, I'll be able to get Twitter accounts working soon too, but I've been having problems with the plugin for that). Registration is quite easy, just go here and fill out the form. Once you do, any comments you make on the site will be accepted automatically. The same for the Facebook commenters.

Sorry for all the trouble with this, but hopefully this will in the long run mean we'll see more comments and less (or even no) spam.

So please take a moment and sign-up now. To thank you all for being so understanding, here's a bonus pic of the real life Sarah being all sexy and well... Sarah-ish. In fact, here's a nice little added bonus for all of her fans. Real life Sarah is a model on a glamour/erotica website called Zivity. Where I'm also a photographer. The first 10 people who sign up for accounts here on Hellcats and comment on this entry saying "hey Mav, give me sexy Sarah pictures" or something to that effect, I'll send a free trial membership to Zivity to. That'll get you a free month of looking at lots of photos of her (as well as the real Trix) and about 1000 other sexy models.

Anyway, sorry again, and thanks for reading. Be sure to come back tomorrow to find out who it is that Chaste, Damsel and Andrew have run into.

See you then,

More Zivity Fun with Sarah

Ribbon-39.jpg
So I've talked about Zivity before. It's a pinup site that the real life Sarah and I work for sometimes.

Anyway, we put a new photoset of her up there this week, including this shot that is pretty much my all time favorite of her.

We're also running a couple contests there. So if you happen to be a Zivity member, head on over there and vote for our set "Black and Light." The person who votes the most times before the end of will win an 8x10 print. Sarah has promised a "secret prize" to whoever votes the most on any of her most recent four photosets (they're not all by me). So I've offered that if the person who votes the most, also voted the most on my set (again, that's Black and Light) that I'd make it a 16x20 print instead. So you'd win a couple things. What could be better than that?

And if you're not a member of Zivity, well then by all means, go sign up there now. What are you waiting for? Even if you didn't win, you'd get to see tons of hot pictures of your favorite over sexed hellcat (well, or even better, the real life model that she's based on) and tons and tons and tons of pictures of other gorgeous women in various states of undress. I can't recommend it enough. So check it out!

See, American Football is a favorite pasttime all over the galaxy. Especially the Steelers. As such, Felinoids are big fans.

Go Steelers!

Schoolgirl Amaya

So since I put up recent photoshoots shots of the real life Damsel and Chaste recently, I decided that maybe I should put something up of Amaya as well.

Unforunately I haven't done a cyberpunk shoot with Amaya, but I did recently do a School Girl shoot with her and a couple other models. I have that up on my Flickr stream, but I thought I'd give a little sample here. It's always nice to dress up the comic with some hot babes.

Now I just have to do a shoot with Sarah. It's been a while. Hopefull we'll remedy that soon.

Cyberpunk Damsel

Cyberpunk-Damsel.jpgI guess maybe I've been on a post-apocalypse kick with the photography lately.

A couple weeks after I did the shoot with Chaste, I ended up doing a similar concept with Damsel.

Typically, I actually do a lot of photoshoots in my studio, so being able to get outside and do some higher concept stuff was really fun.

I hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you think. The girls and I always like feedback.

Cyberpunk Chaste

Chaste-cyberpunk.jpg
One of the things that I've always thought made the Hellcats special compared to other ridiculous oversexified badgrrl comics is that not only are our girls hot but they're all based on real life models.

It's always been our intention to regularly post pics of the real life girls from my photoshoots with them, but I keep getting sidetracked along the way. So here's an attempt to fix that.

I had a shoot with Chaste a few weeks ago. She looks a little different right now, her hair is short and blonde, but as you can see, she's just as much a homicidal maniac in real life as she is in the comic.

Enjoy!

Superbowl Champions x6

sarah-steelers.jpg
So for those of you who don't know, Max and I both live in Pittsburgh, and are die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fans. The same can be said of your Cosmic Hellcats.

A while back during one of her visits to our Galaxy, Sarah and I shot photos of her in Steelers garb for the glamour website Zivity, where she is a model and I am a photographer.

Early today, the Pittsburgh Steelers became the first team in NFL history to win six Superbowls. In celebration I thought I'd post this picture of her from that shoot as an added bonus to you lucky Hellcat fans.

If you'd like to see the rest of the shoot, just follow the link to my profile on Zivity and sign up.

And oh yeah, GO STILLERS!!!
