Mathais Matthews, along with his twin brother Matt, is a member of the cursed Matthews family. The Matthews family has a longstanding history of dying in unlikely accidents while partaking in adventures. After Matt’s father was killed on one of these adventures, his mother forbade her children from doing anything dangerous. However, like all members of the Matthews family, dreams of greatness eventually overcame him and he left home to seek his fortune, eventually joining the pirate vessel "The Vagabond" under Captain Arkady. which he initially believed was a whaling voyage. Mathais’s crewmates have very little respect for him and tend to refer to him by his job title, cabin boy, as they've never bothered to learn his name. He was killed on a kidnapping mission by a Swamp Zombie.
